The Solar System

The sun, with all those planets revolving around it and dependent on it, can still ripen a bunch of grapes as if it had nothing else in the universe to do.

The solar system consists of:
- the Sun
- the eight official planets
- at least three "dwarf planets"
- more than 130 satellites of the planets
- a large number of small bodies (the comets and asteroids)
The inner planets in the solar system are:
- the Sun
- Mercury
- Venus
- Earth
- Mars :
T he outer solar system are:
- Jupiter
- Saturn
- Uranus
- Neptune
- ( Pluto is now classified as a dwarf planet)
The asteroid belt lies between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter
